A Tradition of Scholarship, Leadership, and Discipleship

Our School

St. Martin of Tours Parish School is a self-sustaining institution that has been a continual presence in the community since the mid-19th century. Thousands of children have graduated from our school and achieved success in high school. We offer quality and stability, an award winning middle school, and a commitment to 21st Century Learning.

We serve students of all faiths in grades K4 through 8 with a morning 4-year kindergarten (with an optional afternoon enrichment program) and an all-day 5-year kindergarten. Under the leadership of the principal, Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction certified teachers present state-approved curriculum to students in personalized learning environments.

Our school is fully accredited. Curriculum is presented in a variety of ways. Teachers strive to offer assessments that are observable, measureable, valid, and fair. Middle school students compete in selected academic contests within the Milwaukee area. Eligible, academically gifted middle school students may be selected to participate in the Discovery Project.

All core course classrooms are equipped with computer workstations dedicated for student use and interactive whiteboard technology that support hands-on exploration, practice, and application of knowledge and concepts.

We rely on parents for their commitment. They support the school through their direct involvement. School families provide service in a number of ways. Parents, grandparents, and other family members may help at school, on the athletic field, as a committee chairperson, by completing work at home that supports the school, or by contributing professional expertise.

Parents are encouraged to support, through participation and leadership, activities that guide the mission of St. Martin of Tours Parish School.

Parents are our partners and our customers for whom we strive to provide the highest quality service. In recent school surveys, they overwhelmingly strongly agreed or agreed that St. Martin of Tours Parish School is educating their children effectively. There are three elements with which they strongly agreed.

a.  Faculty and staff model the behaviors their children are taught.

b.  Teachers are competent and caring.

c.  Our school provides parents with plenty of opportunity for involvement in their children's education.

But don't take our word! Speak with some of our parents. Contact the principal for more information.

We provide opportunities for our students to enhance their character and leadership ability. Students choose activities that interest them personally: scouts, athletics, band, orchestra, multi-school engineering competition, multi-school academic competition, student council, safety patrol, and even a noon-time walking club.

Middle school students assist young learners under the careful supervision of teachers. Optional community service activities relating to charitable causes and parish community activities are available as well.

As an independent organization, we are able to address problems quickly related to curriculum, class size, and individual learning. Faculty and staff communicate regularly and work collaboratively to identify and resolve academic challenges. There is no lengthy process for us to obtain permission from large committees or special interests groups. We simply sit at a table to discuss the matter and reach a decision that is in the best interests of our school community.

With the substantial spiritual support of the Congregation of the Priests of the Sacred Heart (SCJ), we continue to develop creative, literate, and responsible learners who go forward to success.
