Emergency Closing

Emergency Early Dismissal

If it is necessary to dismiss students before the end of the school day due to adverse weather or unforeseen circumstances, every attempt will be made to contact parents by phone. Media will be contacted with the information.

In the case of an emergency early dismissal, students will be kept on school/parish property until they are picked up by a parent (or other designated adult), or with parental permission, take the school bus home.

School Closing

If the decision to close school, due to adverse weather or unforeseen circumstances, is made before the start of the school day, every attempt will be made to provide the information to the media in as timely a manner as possible. Non-weather related closures will likely be communicated to parents by phone as quickly as possible.

School closures and early emergency dismissals will be communicated to the following media and broadcast on their radio, television, and websites.

  • WTMJ (AM 620, Channel 4)
  • WISN (AM 1130)

Whenever Franklin Public Schools are closed due to weather, bus transportation is not available, and St. Martin of Tours Parish School will not hold classes, meetings of any kind (activities, scouts, parent meetings) or athletic events (games or practices).

There may be instances when St. Martin of Tours Parish School will close and Franklin Public Schools remain open. As the parent, we expect you to make the final decision as to whether you feel it is safe for your child(ren) to attend school.
